COM Component designed to make full screen scrolling maps easy, especially from Visual Basic. This is the VC++ 6.0 source code of the graphics engine for the Scrolling Game Development Kit (which is where the screenshot comes from). This COM DLL exposes a BMDXDisplay object, which requires a simple 1-line Open call to create a full screen DirectX display. You can also create BMDXTileMap objects to contain 2-D tile maps. A CreateTileSet call will create an off-screen surface to contain tile graphics for the map (based on a COM StdPicture object, frequently and easily used in VB). Then you can use calls like DrawMap to draw the specified map onto a display, GetDC to perform custom graphic operations, TileHit to perform pixel-perfect collision detection, and much more. Includes complete context sensitive help file for all objects, methods, properties and events. Note, the licensing section of the help file is a bit out of date and neglects to mention the GPL, but the about dialog and source code does. A full project and install using this DLL can be found at the SourceForge homepage of the Scrolling Game Development Kit.

For your own safety, please:
  1. Re-scan downloaded files using your personal virus checker before using it.
  2. NEVER, EVER run compiled files (.exe's, .ocx's, .dll's etc.)--only run source code.

If you don't have a virus scanner, you can get one at many places on the net
