(About the author)

This is a simple trick to pass a variable from one page with one or more iframe tags into another page called by an iframe(s). Set the variable as the iframe's ID in the main page Then use coldfusion to set-up a default empty value for the url variable. Next check to see if the url variable is empty, if it is empty use javascript to refresh the page putting the frame ID into the url. When the page reloads then you have access to the variable from the page calling the iframe.
